Car lovers gearing up for the show in Gravenhurst

Car enthusiasts from all corners of the province and beyond are gearing up for the 24th annual Gravenhurst Car Show and we’re happy to report there are now over 300 cars pre-registered!
The largest show of its kind in northern Ontario, the car show typically draws about 500 cars and thousands of spectators to Gull Lake Park in Gravenhurst.
“We’re already getting a fantastic response,” says Sandy Lockhart, the executive director of the Gravenhurst Chamber of Commerce which runs the event.
This year’s show is set to take place on June 17, the day before Father’s Day. In light of Canada’s 150th birthday celebration, the theme for this year’s Car Show will be the vehicles of 1967. Admission for cars and visitors is by donation.
“Since there weren’t any cars on the road 150 years ago, we decided to do the next best thing and display the best examples of vehicles made during Canada’s centennial year,” says Lockhart.
Registration has been immensely successful and Car Show organizers already have approximately 300 vehicles signed up to take part. That includes everything from souped up hotrods to the amphibious vehicles that typically putter around the waters of Gull Lake to the delight of those watching from the shore.
The show offers prizes for spectators and car owners throughout the day including the chance to win a brand new set of tires for pre-registered vehicles owners. Nationally renowned golf course The Muskoka Bay Club, Kubota North, The Keg, Boston Pizza, The Muskoka Drive-In and Muskoka Car Wash all have prizes to hand out so don’t miss the boat!

Organizers are now hard at work looking for volunteers and sponsors to help ensure the event runs smoothly.
“It’s a great opportunity for community-minded businesses to get their name out there in front of thousands of people, and to help out with one of Gravenhurst’s biggest events of the year,” says Lockhart, noting that Canadian Tire in Gravenhurst has already stepped up to the plate as a title sponsor again. “It’s the volunteers and sponsors who come through year after year and help make this one of the biggest and best car shows in all of Ontario.”
Other longtime supporters Wayne’s Tire and Sawdust City Brewing Company have also come forward once again.
Although organizers are still welcoming more sponsors they’re excited to announce The Keg Steakhouse + Bar, Swiss Chalet, and Harvey’s as new sponsors for the big event. As well as Northland Performance, Home Building Centre, Cavalcade, Hagerty Classic Car Insurance, Sunshine 89FM Radio and Muskoka411.
